Bread Uppuma

Bread Uppuma


Suggested Serving Size: Five-Six

Ingredients:
Bread - 1 loaf
Onions - 4-5
Green chillies - 10-12
Rava (fine variety) - 1/2 cup
Water - 1 1/2 cup
Salt - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Lemon - 1
Oil - 6 table spoons
For Seasoning

Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Black gram dhal - 1 tsp
Bengal gram dhal - 2 tsps
Curry leaves - few

For Garnishing

Fried cashewnuts - 1 table spoons
Cut coriander leaves - 1 table spoon
Grated fresh coconut - 2 tablespoons (optional)


Method of Preparation:
1. Cut bread slices into very fine pieces.
2. Chop onions into small pieces and green chillies length-wise.
3. Heat oil in a broad frying pan.
4. Add seasonings, chillies and then onions.
5. Fry till onins become golden brown.
6. Pour water with turmeric powder, lemao juice and salt.
7. When it starts boiling add rava and mix for a minute or two.
8. Put bread pieces to that and fry in medium flame till uppuma becomes very hot.
9. Garnish with coriander leaves and cashewnuts . Serve hot.
